Echentive
Also known as "Playa Nueva," it is located at the foot of the Teneguía volcano. With a length of about 300 meters and black sand, it is the perfect spot for those looking to disconnect as it is situated in a relatively secluded and wild-looking area, although easily accessible by car. In a landscape of recent lava flows resulting from the eruption of the Teneguía volcano in 1971, it houses a historic hot spring (La Fuente Santa) that was buried by lava, and there is a project underway to rehabilitate it so that visitors can enjoy it.
Puerto Naos
Puerto Naos beach is the largest on La Palma. It is located in the southwest of the island, in its main tourist area, and is known for its high-quality services and the blue flag it has flown since 2007. Due to its volcanic origin, this beach features fine black sand, but retains slight greenish hues from olivine rock dust. As the sun sets, it is possible to practice night diving and explore the underwater landscapes of the “Isla Bonita” in a different way.
La Zamora
Located at the foot of a cliff, this tranquil beach with fine black sand is perfect for unwinding. It is easily accessible by car up to the parking lot situated at the top of the cliff, where there is also a small terrace for refreshments. Its volcanic surroundings are striking, with colors that contrast with the green of the banana plantations that abound on both sides of the road. The sunsets from this small cove are spectacular.
Bajamar
Bajamar, located to the east of La Palma, is one of the most visited beaches by locals throughout the year. It is very close to Santa Cruz de La Palma. This beach, approximately 700 meters long and with black sand, is one of the best places on the island to watch the sunrise. What better way to start a vacation? It also holds the Blue Flag award.
Los Cancajos
In Los Cancajos, also near Santa Cruz de La Palma, the intense blue sea contrasts with a sandy beach and black rock formations. It's a vast space that you won't tire of contemplating, as if you were on another planet. The beach is a bay protected by a volcanic rock breakwater that offers calm waters year-round and has a tremendous underwater wealth. That's why this spot is ideal for a scuba diving initiation.
Nogales
This beach captures all the enchanting essence of Isla Bonita: mountains, trails, lava, ocean, and vegetation. Its dark volcanic sand that rises at the foot of a spectacular cliff, enhanced by the blue of the sea, gives this spot a wild, almost mysterious aura. Simply spectacular. One must exercise extreme caution on this beach due to the strong currents and waves that are always present.
Charco Verde
Surrounded by spectacular nature, it is the ideal cove to enjoy a family beach day. Charco Verde beach, 150 meters long and enveloped by cliffs and banana trees, boasts a calm sea that allows the little ones to have fun in this part of the island as well. It is easily accessible by road and has all the necessary services to unwind and make the most of your vacation.
... Things to consider for surfing:
Surfers often choose Nogales Beach for practicing this sport.
... Things to consider for a swim:
The beaches on the southern part of the island are more suitable for swimming. However, all of them offer a wonderful and very tranquil environment. A true paradise to disconnect… and enjoy!
