Isla de Lobos, declared a Natural Park and a must-visit in Fuerteventura.Isla de Lobos
Enjoy the
Islote de Lobos!
The island of Lobos is an incredible place that boasts over 130 species of plants and a plethora of birds. It is part of the Lobos Island Natural Park and its waters are a luxurious marine reserve! Moreover, it is a vital site for birds (SPA) within the Natura 2000 Network!
There is plenty of history that tells itself. From the Romans who lived here to the pirates who used it as a hideout for their ships. And let's not forget Josefina Pla, the poet born in 1960, daughter of lighthouse keepers!
If you're a hiking fan, here you can explore at your own pace. I recommend a 12-kilometer circular hike to see the best of the island. Starting from the port, you'll pass by La Concha beach, the Marrajo salt flats, the Caldera volcano, Martiño lighthouse, Lagunita, and Puertito de Lobos. It's an experience you can't miss! But remember, stick to the trails!
